Simon Calder is one of Britain’s best-known and most trusted travel journalists and commentators. Known as “the man who pays his way,” he has built his reputation on independent, first-hand travel reporting, practical advice and decades of experience on the road.

His career began at Gatwick Airport, where he cleaned aircraft for Sir Freddie Laker and later worked in passenger security. From there, he moved into travel guidebooks and journalism, developing a career that has made him one of the most recognisable voices in British travel media. Today, Simon is Travel Correspondent for The Telegraph and also contributes to National Geographic, Wanderlust Magazine and a range of other publications.

Simon is also co-host of the weekly The Travel Expert podcast, which combines consumer travel advice, destination inspiration, expert interviews and discussion of the latest travel news.

A familiar face and voice across television and radio, he regularly appears on BBC Breakfast, Good Morning Britain, This Morning, CNN, ITV News, Channel 5 and Sky News, as well as BBC Radio, LBC, Times Radio and Talk.
