Mayor of Montegrotto Terme and President, EHTTA – European Historic Thermal Towns Association
Riccardo Mortandello is Mayor of Montegrotto Terme, first elected in 2016 and re-elected in the first round in 2021. He has a long background in hospitality and tourism. Since 2008 he has been marketing and communication manager with his career starting at the five-star Abano Ritz Hotel. In 2016 he founded the OGD Terme e Colli Euganei tourist destination, which he chaired until 2019.
He has served as Vice President of the Italian National Association of Thermal Municipalities (ANCOT) since 2020. Since 2023 he has been President of the European Historic Thermal Towns Association (EHTTA), a non-profit organisation that protects and promotes Europe’s thermal, artistic and cultural heritage.
A committed networker, Riccardo Mortandello builds and maintains relationships at local, national and European level. Beyond his political roles, he is actively engaged in health and cultural tourism, connecting institutions, businesses and thermal destinations across borders. He is a strong advocate for developing new hotel facilities in Montegrotto Terme, seeing them as a key driver of local economic growth. His expertise in destination marketing adds real value to these efforts, and his fluency in several languages allows him to communicate directly with partners and stakeholders across Europe.
