Emilee Tombs is Assistant Travel Editor at The Independent, where she covers hotels, travel features and cruise. She has more than 14 years of experience writing and editing travel content for leading UK publications, including The Telegraph, Wallpaper, House & Garden and Noble Rot.

Her work spans hotels, destinations, food, wine, family travel, cruises and off-the-beaten-track experiences, with a particular interest in stories that make travel feel more personal, accessible and meaningful.

She also holds a WSET Level 3 Award in Wines, bringing an additional perspective on gastronomy, wine and travel experiences.

Emilee’s love of travel began early, during a nine-month campervan journey through Europe and Africa with her family. Today, she continues to explore the world both professionally and personally, from luxury hotels and design-led stays to family-friendly adventures and more unexpected destinations.
