Julije Domac

Director of REGEA, President of FEDARENE, Energy and Climate Advisor to the President of the Republic of Croatia

Born in Zagreb in 1972, Dr. Julije Domac graduated, earned his MSc and PhD at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, University of Zagreb. He is recognized as one of the pioneers of Croatia’s energy transition. He serves as Director of REGEA – North-West Croatia Regional Energy Agency, one of the most successful European energy agencies, and as Chief Advisor to the President of Croatia for energy and climate. Since 2013, he has been the President of FEDARENE – the European Federation of Agencies and Regions for Energy and the Environment, based in Brussels, elected for five consecutive mandates. Since 2016, he has also been a member of the Political Board of the Covenant of Mayors.

Dr. Domac has received numerous national and international awards, including the Croatian State Award for Science, the Biomass Junior Award (Rome, 2004), and recognition by Croatian municipalities and cities for his contribution to sustainable energy. He has authored and co-authored more than 70 scientific and professional papers, acted as editor and reviewer for leading international journals, and served as national or project director for organizations such as FAO, IEA, UNIDO and the World Bank. Since 2023, he has been appointed Associate Professor at the Catholic University of Croatia. He is a frequent keynote speaker at major international conferences worldwide.
