Horst Klinkmann

Prof. Dr Horst Klinkmann, MD – Senior Consultant and Ambassador for Health Economy of the Federal State Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany and the co-founder of BioCon Valleyern

Horst Klinkmann received his medical and engineering training in Rostock/Germany, Budapest/Hungary, Lund/Sweden and Glasgow/U.K. In his very rich career, he collaborated with eminent scientists in the development of artificial organs (especially new blood purification procedures) and nephrology. At Rostock University/Germany he established one of the first interdisciplinary Research Centers of Artificial Organs at that time worldwide.

1990 he was elected as President of the German Academy of Science in Berlin and as dean of the International Faculty of Artificial Organs (INFA), an association of 14 universities of Europe, America and Asia.

During his professional activities he served as President of some of the most eminent National, EU and Worlds Medical and Science Associations. 15 universities around the world awarded him an Honorary Doctorate or Professorship and 18 national and international societies an Honorary Membership. The International Society of Artificial Organs (ISAO) and the European Society of Artificial Organs (ESAO) awarded him the lifelong Honorary Presidency.

The publication list of Horst Klinkmann contains more than 500 scientific publications, books and book-chapters and he received more than 50 international scientific awards.

2001 Horst Klinkmann was co-founder of BioCon Valley, an association of more than 160 scientific institutes and companies in the field of biotechnology and biomedicine.

Today he is Senior Consultant and Ambassador for Health Economy of the Federal State Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and actively involved in BioCon Valley projects.

He is the Founding President of the International Society of Forest Therapy (ISFT), one of the central bodies in the “Healing Forest” project.
